| History of GRLI The University of Georgia operates statewide Cooperative Extension programs which are tasked with assessing community needs throughout all Georgia counties.About six years ago The Clayton County Cooperative Extension office, in conjunction with the Clayton County Collaborative Authority determined there was a need for basic leadership skill development in Clayton County. After securing a grant for $25,000, the first GRLI class was held in 2005 with 18 students. Class of 2004, the first graduating class of the GrassRoots Leadership Institute Over the years, the GRLI has been honored numerous times via proclamations received from state legislators and the Clayton County Board of Commissioners since the program began, most recently by the Class of 2011. | |
